April 2014 Luncheon - Warren Johnson '85

Warren Johnson '85 presenting the story of the new Husky Ballpark
Warren Johnson '85 is a baseball fan, a true purple Husky fan, and a Biz Dev guy for Bayley Construction.   All of this mix produced a great presentation for our March Luncheon.

Earlier this Spring, Bayley completed work on the new  Husky Ballpark facility.  Warren shared the back story on the facility, the field, and the team quarters.   Built on the ground that was once part of the Montlake Dump, the facilities are not supported by pilings.  In fact we learned that the bleachers and facilities are floating.  Adjustable features are included in the design to accommodate additional settlement.  The engineering of this floating facility triggered an active conversation and a number of questions.

Warren also revealed a number of interesting comments on the characteristics of the artificial field.  The only dirt in the new field is the pitcher's mound.

With the completion of this latest baseball project, Huskies now feature the premier baseball facility of the PAC 12.  Our thanks to Warren for sharing the story behind the design and construction of the new Husky Ballpark.  You can reach Warren at WarrenJ@Bayley.net
