Warren Johnson ’85 led our luncheon program for October.  Warren is head of business development for Bayley Construction.  As a result Warren (and Bayley Construction) are heavily involved with the new facilities for the Husky baseball team.  Warren was joined by the Husky baseball coach, Lindsay Meggs as they jointly talked about the facility improvement plans and the new directions for the baseball program. 
  Warren Johnson ’85 introduced us to his employer, Bayley Construction.  Some of their past projects have included 80 Nordstrom stores across the country, 4 Kohl's stores in the local market, the Seattle U Law School building, Port of Seattle's headquarters at Pier 69, as well as serving as owner's rep for the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas.

 Warren started the program on a very pleasant note, when he gave Coach Meggs a check in the amount of $ 10,000 from the proceeds of Bayley Construction's Fundraiser/Golf outing this past summer.  It was a nice kick-off as we learned more about the ambitions for the baseball program. 

A quick review for the Coach: After three years spent building the Indiana State baseball team into a winning program, Lindsay Meggs took over as Washington's head baseball coach prior to the 2010 seasons. Meggs' hiring was announced on July 27, 2009.
Meggs, 47, who won two NCAA Division II national titles while at Chico State, served as the Indiana State head coach for the 2007, 2008 and 2009 seasons. In 2009, he was named Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year after leading Indiana State to a 33-21 overall record and a 15-7 mark in MVC play, good enough to earn the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. After Coach Meggs spent  three years building the Indiana State baseball team into a winning program, Meggs took over as Washington's head baseball coach prior to the 2010 seasons.   In his first season, Meggs improved the Huskies' wins total over the prior year by five, finishing the season 28-28 overall.   In his time in charge at the UW, Meggs has begun a turnaround with aggressive recruiting and in his efforts to make major improvements to the Huskies' facilities.  For example Meggs told us that when he arrived the Huskies had one pitcher breaking the 90 mph barrier, and today they have 10 pitchers in this range.
