Four undergraduates on student mission trip to Dominican Republic - Spring Break

Dear Graduate Sigma Tau Fiji,

During spring break (March 18-27) four Sigma Tau Fiji members will be going with a team of 50 other students to the Dominican Republic where we will be serving alongside an organization called Children of the Nations. We will likely be working with kids in the local Bateys (poor villages), doing construction projects and playing baseball with the locals. Many of the people we will be serving are second and third generation Haitian refugees.

Such a tremendous opportunity requires a great amount of fundraising. In terms of finances, we are each asked to raise $1600 ($6400 between the four of us) for the trip. This money goes towards our flight, ground transportation, food, and other expenses. We would really appreciate any assistance you can give. Any contributions we receive above our individual costs will be applied to the team expenses as a whole.

If you would like to contribute to our efforts and help send us to the Dominican Republic this spring, you can do so in two ways. Checks can be sent to:

University Presbyterian Church
4540 Fifteenth Avenue N.E.
Seattle, WA 98105.

Please make checks payable to UPC with the memo filled out to “Fiji Boys DR Trip.”

If you prefer to donate by credit card or e-check online you may go to www.theinnseattle.org (click on ‘give online to a student’s mission trip’). All donations will be tax deductible (receipts from UPC will only be issued for gifts over $50.00). Thank you for your time.  We greatly appreciate any contribution to our cause and look forward to serving those less fortunate than us.

Sincerely,

Wil Carletti, ‘14
Taylor Dunlap, ‘14
Corbin Mirick, ‘15
Kevin Smith, ‘15

Perge!
